SETTING THE COURSE FOR THE FUTURE
In cities and long-distance traffic, trams and high-speed trains have been running on electric power fed from overhead lines or conductor rails for decades. With large-format high-performance battery systems from our majority holding XALT Energy and fuel cells from Freudenberg Sealing Technologies, the course is now set for the future on non-electrified (secondary) lines and in shunting traffic: The range of electric locomotives in passenger and freight traffic is increasing, and even remote stations can be reached without releasing emissions in the future.
At Freudenberg, today’s train runs on two tracks and has a battery and a fuel cell. In each case, we rely on our own components and a unique depth of added value in our production: from the separator through the cell to the fully developed and tested high-tech overall battery solution; from the membrane to the membrane electrode assembly (MEA) and the stack to the complete fuel cell system – the complete package from a single source. Upon request, electronics and software design are always included, as well as comprehensive after-sales service including remote monitoring
